Challenge

Hampton Inn in Daly City is an 86-room hotel oriented toward the business traveller. The challenge was to make the hotel feel special so that guests derived a real “sense of place.”

Solution

I created an environment that featured large, graphically strong collages suggesting the local Bay area. In the lobby and rooms these images combined with a soft color palette intended to soothe and relax.  The custom high-style cut-out collages have the added effect of visual interest at close inspection, thus drawing the visitor towards the art and into the environment.
